Since 2012 Alex Pall and Andrew Taggert have been making music together as the Chainsmokers. The duo met while in college, Pall was attending New York University and Taggert was attending Syracuse University. Both were exploring DJing and began making remixes; in 2012 they began working with Priyakna Chopra. They had a hit of their own with the 2014 song #Selfie, which found its way onto dance floors at clubs that featured electronic dance music.
In 2015 Pall and Taggert were signed to Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary Disruptor Records. That same year they released their first EP, which was named Bouquet; the EP produced a top 10 hit with their song Roses which went multi-platinum is the U.S. and several other countries. It also gave them their first top 5 single, Don’t Let Me Down, for which they wo a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. The Chainsmokers are also recipients of two American Music Awards and five iHeartRadio Music Awards. They ended up releases five singles from the record
Since that time, they’ve released several other hits including their song Closer that featured popular singer Halsey, which made it to the number 1 spot. Their album Collage was released in November 2016.
The Chainsmokers Land in Las Vegas:
After announcing their first studio album and planning their 40-city U.S. tour, the duo announced they would be performing at Steve Wynn’s XS Las Vegas Hotel’s Encore Beach Club until 2019.
The group continues to stay busy, releasing their album Memories…Do Not Open, in April 2017, and working with Coldplay and releasing their song The One. Their album went platinum in August 2017.
The Chainsmokers were third on Forbes’s list of Highest Paid DJs earning over $38 million.
In 2018, we should expect to see their third album titled Sick Boy.
